As a basketball player in high school, Dr. Kayla Tallant had continued problems with her ankles. She consistently experienced injuries that would keep her out of play for a week at a time. Thankfully, someone recommended that she see a chiropractor. This changed everything. While she began her professional career working in the corporate world, she eventually realized that she wanted to shed the desk job and pursue a career that allowed her to be more active, have more interaction with people, and above all else, make a difference. "After my first adjustment, I never had an injury that kept me from playing again, and I was able to continue my basketball career into college. Like so many people, I thought I knew what career path I wanted to take, but it wasn’t long before I realized I could make a lasting impact on peoples’ lives through Chiropractic care.”
Her pursuit led her to pursuing a doctorate of chiropractic in Dallas. She has continued her education with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, specializing in pediatric and pre-natal care while also treating athletes. She joined The Joint team in 2014 after three years of owning a practice in Oklahoma City. "My philosophy on chiropractic is that everyone with a spine needs to be adjusted. The insurance model does not make this very possible, which is why I am thrilled about this opportunity. The Joint offers me the ability to provide convenient and affordable care to virtually anyone...or at least anyone in our corner of the world!"
Dr. Kayla graduated from Austin College in Sherman, Texas with degrees in History and Political Science before attending Parker College of Chiropractic care in Dallas.
Dr. Martin is a native Texan and comes from a long line of Texans dating back to 1846. He was born and raised in East Texas and was always involved in sports of some kind growing up. Out of this he developed a sincere passion for health science. He moved to Arlington after high school where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of Texas at Arlington. While in college, he began to have neck pain that gradually got worse and caused severe headaches. After going down many different pathways to try to alleviate the pain, he was introduced to a chiropractor who treated him and within a short time he was pain- free! After having this eye-opening experience, he knew his calling and went on to complete chiropractic school at Parker University in Dallas.
His love for sports also resulted in a passion for healthy eating and supplementation, which he has done extensive research on to be able to provide this aspect of care to his patients. The thing he admires most about chiropractic is its ability to re-energize what is already in us, which is an amazing healing ability.
He is married to his beautiful wife, Jessica, and has two pet kitties named Daisy and Bella. He loves traveling, camping, coffee shops and watching football.
Dr. Barry graduated in December 2011 from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO earning a bachelor’s degree in Pre-Med Biology. She then attended Texas Chiropractic College in January 2012 and earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in April 2015. Dr. Barry decided to become a chiropractor after her first experience getting adjusted when she was 19 while volunteering at a free health clinic in Joplin, MO. She didn't realize she was having any issues, but she had her neck adjusted and felt a huge release of pressure in her head and slept better than she had in years. After that experience Dr. Barry knew she wanted to provide this kind of experience to as many other people as possible. She has practiced in Asheville, NC, St. Thomas, VI, and Austin, TX. Outside of work Dr. Barry enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and family. She enjoys being outdoors, riding horses and is an avid animal lover.
