Symptoms You Should Never Ignore

By Sara Butler

Sometimes, strange things happen to your body. These strange symptoms aren't to be ignored because they could mean that something very serious is going on. When scary and unexplainable things happen, your first instinct is probably to pretend it's not happening at all, but when it comes to your health, here are a few symptoms you simply cannot ignore. If you experience them, get to a medical professional for help, especially if it's something that has come on suddenly.

A Severe Headache

You can get a headache that seems to linger around for a while. If you're experiencing a headache like that, then there's no rush to seek help (though you definitely should bring it up to the chiropractor!). The headache you need to be worried about is the one that seems to strike you like lightning and feels as if it's the worst headache you've ever had.

This kind of headache may be a medical emergency because it might just be a sign of a stroke or of bleeding inside your brain. If you're over 50 and experiencing new types of headaches, then it's definitely something you need to get checked out too.

Sudden Loss of Hearing

Some of the most common causes of hearing loss are things that aren't that alarming, such as too much earwax in your ear canal or water in your ear from the shower. If you experience a sudden loss of hearing, try to rule out harmless things first. But if you have a sudden hearing loss that doesn't seem to be caused by something benign, then it's probably time to get help.

Multiple sclerosis or a stroke are just a few of the more serious things that can cause a sudden hearing loss. So, if it hits you abruptly, then get help.

Dizziness

Everyone feels dizzy from time to time. It could mean that you are dehydrated or that you've got an issue with your inner ear, such as an infection. But if you experience dizziness that gets worse when you turn your head from side to side or it's associated with any bleeding, then it can be a sign of something serious, such as a stroke. Also, any time you hit your head and feel dizzy, you should make sure to get looked at to make sure there's not something more significant going on.

Your health isn't something you should ignore, especially if something simply doesn't feel right. It's always better to be on the safe side and get any unusual symptoms checked out.
