Staying Healthy After a Breakup
It is quite likely that at some point, we will let something outside of our mind and body impact our decisions when it comes to our health and wellness. There are so many environmental factors that can influence our health and wellness and when we let these environmental factors impact us to the point when we are not carrying out healthy behaviors, we know we are in trouble. Many things that happen in our lives play on our emotions, and this may not always be the best situation for our health and wellness.
One event that impacts our emotions significantly and eventually leads to decreased health outcomes is a break up. When we end things with our now former significant other, it can take a serious toll on our emotions, our mental health, and our overall wellness. We become sad, we feel like we have lost something so important in our lives, and we tend to spiral out of control. We fill our lives with junk food, we spend hours on end on the couch, and we revert to behaviors that will eventually contribute to the downfall of our health and wellness.
So when we experience a breakup and we feel that there is nowhere else to turn, what can we do to ensure that our health and overall wellness does not suffer? The main thing that can help us overcome this seemingly impossible obstacle is to be mindful of ourselves, the value of our wellness, and remember to focus on moving on. It is definitely ok to grieve the relationship for a period of time but at some point, we need to get back on the road to health and wellness.
Having some ice cream here and there is fine, but we need to practice moderation, especially in these times. Knowing that we will come out on the other side is crucial, and we need to instill confidence in ourselves so we can get back to wellness. Make sure to take time to exercise - this will keep your mind active and help you to focus on your well-being. In addition, reflect on what you learned and gained in the relationship in order to put a positive spin on the situation.
