Dr. Peter Youssef, better known to his patients as Dr. Peter, joined the Chapel HIll location of The Joint Chiropractic family in 2018 after getting his biology degree at University of Texas at Arlington and doctorate from Parker University in Dallas.
Dr. Peter says the thing he enjoys most about being in the chiropractic field is serving his patients. The other thing: “It works wonderfully!”
A product of Arlington, Dr. Peter enjoys working out, church, and spending time with his friends.
He knew chiropractic was something he wanted to pursue after he saw its impact on his own family. “I saw it help both my parents at a time when they were both going through so much pain, but nothing was helping them,” he says.
It’s his goal to extend that same level of comfort to his patients, and he says the one thing he loves most about the Chapel Hill location is his patients and their good humor. “The patients,” he says, “are funny.”
In Case You Didn’t Know …
Dr. Peter says protein is the one thing he must have in his refrigerator at all times. “Everything from eggs to steak and chicken,” he says. “Gotta stay well-fed!”
Dr. Peter likes a lot of muscle, and so if he could assemble his ideal dinner party, he says he would like to bring together Jesus Christ, Dwayne Johnson, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. “I’m the biggest fan of Dwayne Johnson’s,” he says, “and I’m a huge fan of Arnold’s.”
That selection of dinner companions may not be that surprising, given his interests and the lifelong dream he held. “The coolest thing I’ve ever done was participate in a bodybuilding competition,” Dr. Peter says. “It was something I’ve always wanted to do but never thought I was good enough to do. I trained more than seven years and turned my dream into a reality.”
Dr. Layton Atwood joined The Joint Chiropractic family in early 2018 after getting a bachelor of science degree in agriculture from Murray State and a doctorate of chiropractic from Parker University. Her area of study in agriculture was equine science -- she loves horses!
Dr. Atwood says the best thing about being in the chiropractic field is the”loving service” that is provided to help patients reach their health goals, whether that’s to resolve a pain issue or live a healthier lifestyle with such chiropractic benefits as experiencing fewer headaches and having a stronger immune system.
There’s also a perk to being a chiropractor at The Joint: “I’m surrounded by great chiropractors, so I am always well-adjusted.”
A product of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Dr. Atwood enjoys horses, including barrel racing, and her husband is a horse trainer in Weatherford. She has also been known to perform chiropractic on animals. In addition to having a horse named Bo, she also enjoys time with a border collie named Tillie.
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Atwood admits that she’s addicted to Peppermint Patties, so she always has some at the ready.
One of the coolest experiences of her life was a mission trip she took to Peru to serve the people of Lima; she then toured the archeological remains of Cusco and Machu Picchu in the Peruvian Andes.
