Visit Your Chiropractor for Those Back, Joint Pains
By Stephen R. Farris
Are those aches and pains starting to nag at you? Have you been putting off going to see the doctor or chiropractor for relief? You probably have, and the relief you were looking for in that bottle of ibuprofen and tube of muscle rub hasn't quite done the trick.
Most of the time when we experience muscle or joint pain, we try to fix the problem ourselves. Sometimes it might work, but other times it lingers on and doesn't want to go away.
Especially if the pain is in your back, neck, legs, arms, wrists, etc., those aches and pains could be signs of weakening joints and/or muscles that help support the joints. Either way, it's probably time to visit the chiropractor and let them take a look at what's going on.
What to Expect
During your first visit to the chiropractor you might have lots of questions prior to going. Those questions can be answered by your chiropractor. Once you tell them what type of pain you're experiencing, he/she can examine you and diagnose it, plus talk with you about treatment options and how long they may take.
What Will They Do
Chiropractic treatment is an all natural, hands-on approach to helping provide relief to your back and joints. For back problems, for instance, they use a technique called spinal manipulation, to help give you needed relief and put you on the road to recovery.
What About Soreness Afterwards?
Typically, any soreness is normally equivalent to that of starting an exercise regimen for the first time. Your chiropractor may suggest drinking plenty of water, icing down the area where you're experiencing soreness and he/she can suggest and demonstrate a few simple stretching exercises for you to perform at home between treatment sessions.
The important thing is to seek treatment for any lengthy lingering pain in your back and joints. If left untreated, you might develop more problems and leave the door open for arthritis to set in. Just make sure you talk fully with your chiropractor about your symptoms and not leave anything out. You can also talk with them about nutrition and overall health concerns. Their goal is to help get you back to a healthy, active lifestyle.
