Take a Break and Camp for Health
By Tom Herrin
Doing something to improve health is not always looking for the next exercise program. It doesn't have to be some drastic diet either. While both of these can do some good things, it is possible to take a different approach. A lot of the problems that most have may relate to simply getting into a routine that is too set and too hectic. More people get caught up in the rut of being too busy without taking quality time off than not. Chances are when most people were kids, they could kick back and have fun without the thought of what kind of impact it has on them. Plenty of people camped in the backyard for the fun of it. As an adult, camping can still do some good things to support better health.
It May Free the Mind from Distractions
In today's world, most people rely on some kind of technology to perform their work and/or conduct their daily routine. One of the biggest is likely to be electronic devices. The dependency many people have on them can make it almost like an addiction. In 2017, the percentage of the world population that was estimated to own a smartphone was more than 60 percent. When people are out on that camping trip, there is fair chance that there will be little or no cell signal. People may even develop a feeling of independence from those devices.
It May Help Reduce Stress
So many people deal with stress that it has become a major contributor to health issues. Having more exposure to nature can help to clear the mind. Researchers at the University of Minnesota concluded that people who even had an opportunity to view natural settings were able to benefit. Going on a camping trip can help to make people feel more open and comfortable.
It May Help to Strengthen Family Relationships
There is something about spending time outdoors that seems to make people want to work together. At least, that is the way it affected our family. Every member wanted to pitch in and do whatever kind of work there was to do. We were always able to accomplish anything, or at least it seemed that way. It is one of those things that simply gets you hooked on it. With the number of inexpensive places to camp in this area, there are plenty to choose from.
