Your Skin Needs to Last a Lifetime

By Tom Herrin

The body is something that is irreplaceable.  Taking care of it is a pretty significant responsibility.  It is designed to do lots of jobs.  The skin is there to protect the body from infection, and it can add to or take away from appearance.  In this modern day, there are all kinds of resources we can use to do a better job of taking care of it.  As with so many other things, we just need to educate ourselves and take action.  It doesn't require any great expenses but just commitment.  A few of the things we can do are very basic.

Make Sunscreen a Part of Your Routine

When I was young, I had never heard of sunscreen.  We simply burned from exposure.  Many people developed serious conditions, such as skin cancer, and it was considered to be inevitable.  Today we have vastly improved products that can help to save us from such outcomes.  It is suggested that we use a sunscreen that is mineral-based with SPF of 30.  Using it regularly should be something we do each time we spend any amount of time in the sun.  it is a major part of good skin care.

Get Regular Sleep

The role of sleep in health is pretty broad.  It helps to keep us functioning better mentally as well as keeping our body better regulated.  We have natural abilities to make repairs as we sleep.  We need only look in the mirror when we are short on sleep to notice the effects on our skin.  When we get an adequate amount of sleep each night, our skin will appear fresher with greater elasticity.  A good sleep routine can make a tremendous difference in maintaining healthy skin.

Drink Water Like It Matters

Water seems to be an answer to lots of issues that may affect our health.  Our skin is no different.  When we stay properly hydrated, our skin will show it.  When we are lacking enough water, our skin is more likely to be dry and show more wrinkles.  A proper amount of water can help us to also add to the softness and protect the moisture our skin requires for good health.  It is always a good practice to make every attempt to drink water throughout the day even when they don't feel thirsty.  You will find it a worthwhile effort.
