Let Them Eat Fish

If there was one thing that could be added to a diet to make it healthier, what would it be? For some, having more fruits and vegetables would be a good answer. For others, adding more foods that are not fried would make a substantial contribution. If people were to look for a more generic answer, it might be to add more fish. For years, it has been recognized that those places in which fish is a major part of the diet, the population may experience less of certain health problems. Having fish more regularly may make anyone's diet at least a bit healthier.
It Can Provide Plenty of Nutrients
There is little point in eating if people do not get adequate nutrients. Fish can provide a good supply. It has iodine, minerals, and vitamins. It also has lots of protein and is recognized as a great source for it. One of the most noted nutrients in some fish is omega-3 fatty acids. This is found especially in fatty fish and has lots of benefits. Some of the fish with good supplies of this are salmon, tuna, mackerel, trout, and sardines.
It Can Be a Good Source of Vitamin D
Many people have a difficult time getting enough Vitamin D. it is believed that as many as more than 40 percent of adults are deficient in it. A lot of people have to rely on sunshine to get it. For those who are not able to do this, fish may be the next best alternative. Eating fish once or twice per week may enable someone to boost their health without really going to much extra effort.
It May Be Good for the Eyes
When I go to the eye doctor for a yearly checkup, he always reminds me to eat fish regularly or take fish oil supplements. I try to make an effort to do both. Anytime I need a quick and healthy snack, I will open a can of sardines and eat it with some crackers. Salmon can be good the same way. If you do a bit of looking, you are sure to find some kind of fish that you and your family can enjoy. Make it a part of your regular diet and see the results. Given a little time, you will likely notice an improvement in lots of areas of your overall health.
