How to Eat to Lose Weight

We all know that to effectively lose weight, we most exercise regularly and stick to a healthy and moderated diet.  You might think that a healthy diet means restricting everything that you eat.  While you do have to be conscious of all that you consume, that does not necessarily mean that you can’t enjoy the healthy, fresh foods that are part of a healthy diet.

Contrary to popular belief, you can eat well and deliciously while sticking to a weight loss regimen.  It just takes a bit of effort and some forethought.  There are healthy foods out there that are not only delicious but they are great for aiding in weight loss too.  Check out these fabulous foods for weight loss.

Fresh Fruits and Vegetables

This is a no-brainer!  Fresh fruits and vegetables are a great part of any healthy diet.  Eating whole unprocessed and natural foods can help rev up your healthy lifestyle and help you lose weight.  They are packed with vitamins and nutrients, and they are so versatile.  There are all sorts of ways you can prepare fresh vegetables.  You don’t have to get burnt out on them either because new seasons bring a host of new produce for you to try and enjoy.

Whole Grains

Fiber can play an integral role in weight loss goals.  Whole grains are a great way to make sure that you are getting enough fiber.  Whole grains such as wheat breads, wheat pasta, wild rice and brown rice can help provide fiber, minerals and vitamins to your diet.  Although they may be higher in calories, the nutritional punch they pack is worth it when enjoyed in moderation.

Lean Protein

Skinless chicken breast is a delicious source of protein that can be added to a variety of dishes.  Protein helps to feed your muscles and keeps you feeling fuller for longer.  Fish and legumes are also good sources of protein that complement the fresh produce that you will be eating.  Proteins should make up five to six ounces of your daily food intake, so make sure you are switching things up with a variety of healthy and lean proteins.

Dairy Products

Don’t ditch the dairy just because you are on a diet!  According to a recent University of Tennessee study, low fat dairy products can help you lose excess weight.  Greek yogurt is a great complement to your morning grains or works as a great snack on the go combined with fresh fruit.  The USDA suggests three cups of low fat dairy every day.
