Stop Snoring with These Unusual & Natural Remedies
No one wants to sleep in the same room as someone with a snoring problem, not even the person snoring. It can really ruin your sleep schedule, causing you to wake up throughout the night, as well as wake your partner up. Not only can it disrupt your sleep, but it can cause a wide array of health problems.
There are many different remedies that when put together, might help get your snoring in check. Below are some tips that will finally allow you to curb your snoring habits and finally get a decent night’s sleep.
Give Your Tongue A Work Out
Even though it seems like your nose is the culprit when it comes to causing your snoring, your tongue is actually a main player in your loud breathing condition. If you sleep a certain way, your tongue can block your air way, causing the snoring and other sleeping issues. Strengthening your tongue will prevent this because you will be able to keep it from falling backward during your sleep. The best tongue workout entails sticking your tongue out as far as you can, and moving it up and down and side to side until you can’t do it anymore.
Keep That Chin Up
Many people who are obese, elderly and have respiratory issues, usually snore at night. People in these groups are known to have weak throat muscles, a condition that is known to causing snoring. By strengthening those muscles, you should see a decrease in the snoring. Tuck your chin under by pressing it down with your finger. Hold it there for 10-15 seconds and repeat for several reps. This will make your throat stronger and your snoring weaker.
Talk To Yourself
If you get your tongue and jaw loosened up before you hit the hay than chances are you wont snore as much. You can do this by saying all the vowels in the alphabet at least 30 times, if not more. You need to actually say them, not just mouth them, in order for this exercise to work. If you feel embarrassed to do this in front of your partner, then have a 10 minute or so conversation before you go to sleep, where you do most of the talking. Maybe relate a story about your day.
Belt It Out
Singing will surprisingly help with your snoring as well. Belt out some tunes in the car or in the shower, but make sure you are actually trying to hit those notes. This will give your better control over your soft palate, allowing you to better control your snoring as well.
