How to Exercise When You're Short on Time
Most of us live pretty busy lives. We have careers, families, friends, communities...the list almost seems endless! Because of these extremely busy lives that we lead, it can be tough to take care of your health and fitness. If you are in the midst of a busy lifestyle, and can’t seem to find the time to hit the gym, check out these simple ways to exercise when time is of the essence.
Walk More
Walking is a great exercise, and it’s actually something that can be accomplished fairly easily. To get just a little bit more walking into your routine, start with small changes to your regular routine. For example, park at the very back of the parking lot instead of coveting the front spot. You can also use your breaks at work to simply take a little walk. If you’re not allowed to leave, walk around the office. When you’re watching television, walk during commercials. If you’re at a child’s event, walk back and forth while still watching the activity. There are lots of sneaky little ways to get in some walking, and by doing so, you’ll also be sneaking in some burned calories.
Take the Stairs
It can be tempting to take the elevator, escalator, or ramp when you need to go up a flight. If you’re out of time and need some exercise, however, just take the stairs. This will work your bottom half, build stamina, and burn way more calories than you would while standing still in an elevator. You don’t have to factor in much more time for this either. Just a couple of extra minutes will allow you the time you need to climb the stairs and burn some extra calories.
Stretch
Stretching is great because it can literally be done anywhere! When you wake up, do a quick stretching routine. When you’re at work, stretch at your desk, on a break, or do tiny stretches all day long. This will burn a few calories, improve your flexibility, and help you stay in overall better shape. It doesn’t have to be a hard core yoga routine to gain the benefits. Simple stretching can get the job done.
It can be tough to get in enough exercise when you’re already up to your ears in obligations. Don’t fret! It can be done with a tiny bit of planning and a little bit of creativity. Use these simple tips to get in shape and keep your body in better health through your very busy life.
