How to Focus and Achieve More Every Day
By Genevieve Cunningham
We all need to focus every single day. We have to focus at work, during our workout, and even when we're playing -- such as during video games or fun times with friends. Focus is crucial for staying alert and involved in life. But let's not fool ourselves: Sometimes finding focus is hard! It's so easy to get distracted or simply lose motivation to complete the task at hand. So how can we improve this aspect of our lives? If you need more focus and drive to get more done, take a look at these tips to help you find success.
Fuel Your Body and Brain
If you're hungry, thirsty, or suffering from cravings, it's going to be so hard to stay focused. Make sure that you're constantly fueling your body and brain with the right food and drink. Eat plenty of healthy foods -- lean meats, veggies, etc. -- and drink as much water as you can in lieu of sodas or flavored drinks. The better you keep yourself fueled, the better off you'll be overall.
Get Moving
If you really can't focus, the worst thing you can do is just sit there and try to force it. It's not going to work! Get up and move instead. Go for a quick walk, do some lunges down the hallway, do some high knees in place. Just move! After some movement, your mind may be more ready to refocus on your task.
Get Rest
Feeling sleepy isn't going to help you focus. If you're not getting enough rest, make it a priority. Go to bed early, and don't distract yourself with the TV or phone. Turn off the lights and keep the room a comfortable temperature. Rest your body and your brain, and your focus is way more likely to stick around.
End Distractions
Distractions happen, but eliminate as many as possible. This means closing extra tabs on your browser. It means leaving your phone off so that text messages don't bother you. It means staying off of social media. The fewer distractions you have vying for your attention, the easier it is to get things done.
Don't give up! Yes, it can be difficult to really gain focus and stay motivated. But it's definitely not impossible. Use these tips to regain your focus and keep your mind on what's important, and you'll be making big gains in your life in no time at all.
