Food for Optimal Men's Health
If you are a man, you are supposed to like red meat and potatoes, right? That’s what “men” eat. But, what should men really eat? Should their diet differ from women’s diets? Should it be different from others of different sizes or ethnicities?
Your diet may change significantly based on your goals. If you are a man, however, you can pretty much bet that any of these foods, discussed in detail in an article on everydayhealth.com, can benefit your body and improve your overall health.
Oysters
For years, oysters have been touted as the go-to food for men. This is because of the supposed boost to a man’s reproductive health. Actually, it’s more than just oysters...it’s food with high levels of zinc. Zinc is a great tool for men, as it promotes healthy sperm production. It also protects the prostate, which can be beneficial as men age. Other foods with zinc, just in case you can’t get past the rubbery, slimy texture of oysters are liver, lamb, and cheese.
Walnuts
These healthy little nuts look like tiny brains, and you know what? They are actually great for brain health! They contain high amounts of Omega 3 Fatty Acids which help with the membranes in the brain. If you want to stay sharp, walnuts should definitely be a part of the menu. Omega 3 also promotes heart health, so with one little but, you are getting some great healthy benefits.
Chocolate Milk
This one is great for men who exercise. For years, chocolate milk has been touted as the best post workout recovery drink. It’s high calcium content, stomach easing qualities, and low sugar content make it an excellent choice for fueling the body after a workout.
Leafy Greens
So, men don’t like to talk about it, but they have a much higher risk of having problems with the colon later in life. In order to help negate this, it’s important to keep the body clean and free of waste and toxins. One of the best ways to do this is through your diet. Leafy greens like spinach, kale, and lettuce can give you a low cal option to cleaning out the gut. They go through quickly and take waste with them. As an added bonus, spinach also has a high amount of protein, so getting it in your daily salad will give men a double bonus.
If you are a man, you don’t have to only eat red meat and potatoes. Sure, it’s a delicious meal, but there are some other great options to add to the menu to keep your body in great shape. Use these foods to improve your health and keep you strong for years to come.
