Let Fall Work For You

By Tom Herrin

There may not be a lot of times when people can say that a particular season works for them, but fall may be a different story.  Once the extreme heat of summer is finally past, people are greeted with the opportunity to experience the much more comfortable temperatures of fall.  This can mean that exercising with a good outcome has a greater likelihood of happening.  Recovery from those stress factors such as heat and humidity is much easier in the cooler and drier fall air.  With all this said, fall can be a great time for people to try another jump start to their overall health program.

Get Back In the Game

Fall in Texas is the greatest time of year in most parts of the state.  Just about any kind of game can be played outdoors with little problem.  Whether people are into tennis, golf, volleyball, touch football, or just about any other game, they are sure to find that the weather is often as ideal as possible.  They may well be able to play for longer periods of time with fewer breaks.  The feel of the outdoors is very accommodating as they take up more activity and improve their personal health.

Go to Some Fall Activities

There are countless places where people can go to simply be out and about.  Even if you missed the state fair, there are still local community fairs and festivals all over the place.  For those who don’t mind the drive, both Canton and McKinney have regular monthly events that feature all kinds of crafts, foods, and ideas.  There will be plenty of walking available as well as chances to sample all kinds of foods, both healthy and not-so-healthy.  It is a prime time to enjoy the fresh air while getting a little exercise and trying some new foods.

You Can Even Take Little Things Outside

Doing things outside that you normally do inside can be another way to change your overall perspective on health.  Whether it is reading, working puzzles, mending, or assembling things, when you experience doing it out in the natural light and fresh air there is a whole different feel.  Take advantage of the fall to find a few healthier foods, get more exercise, and gain a new outlook on life.
