3 Ways to Burn Calories on the Clock

The fact that we all have to work can be a real bummer. Most of us would rather be at the beach or in the mountains … or just at home on the couch. But work isn’t all bad. It gives financial means and purpose. It helps us find who we are and what we want to do. Perhaps the worst part about work is the amount of time that we have to spend on the clock. It can make other things difficult. Things like family, school, fun, and health all get put on the back-burner. Who has time to hit the gym with a full-time job? Unfortunately, this attitude is creating a decline in overall health. So what can we do? If you would like to use your time at work to also stay healthy, take a look at these ways to burn calories on the clock.

Calisthenics

The great thing about calisthenics is that they can be done anywhere. Have a few extra minutes? Go ahead and do a few squats. Have a sturdy chair in your office? Get in a few tricep dips. Calisthenics are done by using your own body weight to tighten and tone the muscles. Think jumping jacks and lunges and squats and such. While you won’t burn thousands of calories with calisthenics, you’ll be adding to your daily burn for overall better health.

Walk It Off

Anytime you have a break at work, start walking. Walk outside and around the block. Walk laps around the inside of the office. Take a few extra steps to the bathroom. If you work in a multi story building, take the stairs instead of the elevator. Walking can help you burn little blasts of calories all day long. Do as much walking as you can to help increase the calorie burn every day.

Laugh

Everyone has an office funny person. The equivalent of the class clown. Everyone loves this person! They keep the office in stitches, and honestly, they make work more fun. Make sure to get around this person throughout the day so that you can get in a few laughs. Laughing burns far more calories than most realize, and it can also make you feel more positive about your job. Give this a try if you need a super fun way to burn calories without any extra effort.
