Exercises for Beating Stress
It doesn’t really matter what you do. You could be a student, an adult with a full time career, a stay at home parent, or any combination of these things; Stress is most likely a staple in your life. Stress is unfortunately something that most of us are not able to live without. In most cases, there is simply too much to do and not enough time to do it, leading to mounds and mounds of stress. If you find yourself in these shoes, you don’t have to fret. There are some simple exercises that you can do to help you rid your body and mind of that pent up stress. While all exercise can provide a little bit of stress relief, check out these exercises that are specifically great for relieving stress.
Yoga
You can’t really talk about stress relieving exercise without discussing yoga. This form of exercise is the epitome of relaxation and stress relief. The practice focuses on stretching, breathing, and inner balance, all of which lead to a body and mind that are less stressed. To partake in this exercise, check your local gym. There are multiple forms of yoga, which just means that there’s a higher chance that you can find one that you like.
Long Distance
Exercising for a long period of time can give you the infamous “runner’s high.” Whether it is running, biking, hiking, or simply walking, doing any of these for a long distance can create the same effect. That means that the body will take on the stress, and the mind will have no choice but to let it go. For the best results, you have to really go the distance. A walk around the block, though still good for you, won’t give you the same amount of stress relief as 5 laps around the block. Keep in mind that it doesn’t have to be lightning speed. Take your time, go the distance, and find the stress melting off.
Martial Arts
Any sort of martial arts...kickboxing, karate, jiu jitsu, anything...can really make a powerful dent in your stress levels. Something about the quick and powerful moves that accompany these practices keeps stress levels to a minimum. Punching, kicking, and the self discipline required by this exercise gives many people the tools they need to be successful at managing stress.
If you’re looking for a little stress relief, try incorporating daily exercise into your routine. Even if it’s not one of the above mentioned forms, a little exercise can go a long way. Keep your mind and body fit and healthy with exercise to rid yourself of unwanted stress.
