Exercises to Build Stamina

Stamina is what keeps you going through the tough parts of life. Without stamina, it’s difficult to complete a workout or even enjoy the everyday parts of life. Your endurance helps in almost every aspect of your life. To increase your stamina and overall endurance takes a lot of work. You don’t just suddenly wake up and have better endurance. It takes practice and discipline to improve your health in this area. If you want to increase your stamina so that you can improve your quality of life, check out these great exercises for boosting your endurance and stamina for good.

Running

Of course, running must be mentioned when referring to building stamina. Running is an excellent way to boost your general endurance level. If you are new to running, take it slow. If you are a pro, increase your distance, add some sprints, or reach for a new time. Running can really work the lungs to improve their function and add life to your muscles. If you are serious about stamina building, running might be your best choice.

Shorten Your Breaks

You don’t have to change everything about your current workout in order to build stamina. You can also simply shorten your rest periods. Stick to your same routine, but instead of resting for 1 minute, rest for only 30 seconds. This shortened rest period forces your body to get ready faster, which is essentially the point of stamina. Do this slowly so as not to burn yourself out, but stick with it for great healthy results.

Add Weights

Adding weights to a workout instantly makes it more difficult. Even adding simple 5 pound hand weights to the mix will have you huffing and puffing before you know it. Whatever your current routine, add some simple weights to the mix to really see some difference in your endurance. The first time you do this, it is likely to be extremely difficult, but don’t give up! Before you know it, you will find that you have to add even more weight in order to challenge the body again.

Building endurance and stamina is a great way to keep up your fitness level, but also to participate in everyday life. Life can be tough and challenging, so building up enough endurance can help you stay active and involved. Use these tips to get moving, stay moving, and to enjoy your life for years to come.
