The Best Snacks for a Natural Energy Boost
Many people eat at least one snack a day, while the majority eat even more than that. When we grab a snack, we’re often looking for a quick pick me up to be able to make it through the rest of the day. To get the most out of your midday snack, check out these energy boosting snack foods to get the kick you need.
Apples
Apples are a great source of fiber, water, and antioxidants. These little treats will help flush the digestive tract, make you feel full, and give you a blast of energy providing vitamins and minerals. Adding an apples is easy as well since you don’t need any extra devices to eat them. You can literally grab one and go.
Oatmeal
Oats are considered one of the good carbohydrates that you should be consuming. In case you didn’t already know, good carbs are turned into energy when they enter the body. So grabbing a quick bowl of oatmeal can give you a great source of some quick energy. Be careful when grabbing oatmeal...you should always go for the real thing. Grabbing the sugar packed flavored instant oatmeal negates the good effects that regular oatmeal can bring.
Watermelon
Watermelon is full of...well, water! It passes through the digestive system quickly, taking many of the toxins and other slower moving food with it. When you are able to get toxins out of the body, you automatically have a bit more energy than when you started. It will also help you feel full and will help to rehydrate the body.
Lemon Water or Coconut Water
Water is always good for the body, no matter the time of day. These two options just give a little extra to the already wonderful H2O. Water of any kind will hydrate the body, flush out toxins, and make you feel full. Adding a little lemon gives you a blast of the all important antioxidant, Vitamin C. Coconut water has a blast of Vitamin E, contains natural electrolytes, and is one of the best water options for re-hydration. Using either if these as a snack is a great way to add a very low calorie, energizing snack to your day.
Snacking doesn’t have to be the death of your diet. If done correctly, you can benefit from having a snack, gaining some energy, and giving a boost to your nutrition. Try these energy boosting snacks for a powerful pick me up and a great addition to your day.
