Dr. Devonté Walker, DC became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2023 when he began serving residents in Abilene, TX. In July 2024, he transitioned to The Joint Chiropractic Murphy as an Owner / Operator. According to Dr. Walker, the best thing about working at not only this particular Joint, but any of them, is “the ability to treat all demographics. With the affordability of our care, I am able to meet and treat people of all walks of life. What I look forward to most is having a positive impact not only in the chiropractic industry but in this community as well.”

Dr. Walker attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene where he played college football and received his bachelor in Exercise Science. He then attended Parker University and graduated in April of 2022.

“One of my most memorable occurrences was actually getting my Doctorate of Chiropractic. Before my mom passed from colon cancer it was the last promise I ever made to her, that I would get my doctorate in something. April of 2022 I fulfilled that promise.”

“I grew up in West Texas in a small town about 20 miles North of Abilene. I grew up working on our ranch as a ranch hand. Throughout that time, I learned how to build fences, work cattle, break horses etc. That upbringing instilled a lot of hard work and discipline. I believe that it helped shape my life by instilling a good sense of morals and respect for all people and things.”

In his junior year of college, Dr. Walker’s receivers coach made the players go to a chiropractor on Fridays. He began to notice the differences in his playing ability and his recovery time. Going into his senior year, he had reached his internship and interned with that Chiro. This was his first look into chiropractic and the general public. He was blown away with how much patient’s felt after just one adjustment. In that moment he realized that this was how he wanted to serve and give back to his community. He changed courses from Physical Therapist to Chiropractor that semester.

Dr. Walker is married to Marisa Walker who is an “incredible mother, wife, friend and so much more. She has made me a better person, in all aspects, from the moment I met her.” They have a 6 year old named Boston and are expecting their new born in October. Boston enjoys anything outside whether playing catch outside or riding bikes/scooters. They have 2 dogs, Lola who is a Fawn Doberman Pincher and Zeus who is an aussie mix. Their doberman Lola is the sassiest in the house hands down, while Zeus may be a cat disguised as a dog. Both love long walks and some fetch.

“In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors with my family. Can often times catch us grilling out on the back porch or horsing around in the backyard. I enjoy playing the piano and some with the guitar. My get away is a good hoop sesh playing basketball.

Dr. Walker loves the field of chiropractic and having the ability and opportunity to aid in the healing of patients with our hands. “I have been fortunate to witness some incredible things through the chiropractic profession. Getting to help and serve my community is very important to me.” The second best thing about the chiropractic field is getting to meet people in all different walks of life and seeing the joy on their face after their adjustment!

“In life, my head coach at HSU preached to us about what I thought was just football but as I’ve quickly realized he was talking about life. “Find A Way” was a big phrase in our football program and I say it to myself on a daily basis. There’s always a way to accomplish a goal you set, the journey may be different in getting there but the important thing is to Find A Way. The second thing we heard almost everyday was “Control the Controllable” very simple but so impactful once you grasp the understanding.”

The Rockwall location is 20 minutes closer to my home, but I’ll drive out of my way to go to the Murphy location every time. Dr. Walker is so friendly and kind, and clearly an expert at what he does. Update: 2 years later, I’ve seen various doctors at this location, all of them very friendly and good at their work. It now has a new chiro/owner, Dr. Devonté Walker, who is consistent full time and he is perhaps the best I’ve ever had both in bedside manner and in chiro adjustment work. This is a magical blessing we have in our community. So grateful! Took me same day. Staff and Doctor were super friendly and positive. Chiro adjustment was thorough and intentional to my problems. Price is insanely good. Connected to the DFW network of the chain business so you can see another office. Cheaper than a copay under insurance. Wow. I’m happy.

I haven’t been able to see a chiropractor since I moved to Texas and my insurance does not cover chiropractic care. I went to this location today in a position of extreme pain from my hip being locked up, a headache, and my fingers were numb from a pinched nerve. When I tell you that they were extremely kind and understanding! He was very quick and extremely well versed in the detailed adjustments that I required which is highly appreciated as I went during my lunch break. Also, the initial visit was very affordable and the monthly plan of four adjustments that I signed up for totaled the same as one adjustment at any other chiropractor that I had inquired with! 10/10 for knowledge 10/10 for time 10/10 for cost 10/10 for effectiveness And 10/10 for making me cry from joy!!!

Dr Devonte Walker is excellent. I've seen chiropractors for 30 years. He did a unique move in my hip area that he said is related to physical therapy. All I can tell you is that it made a huge difference in my lower back and hip area compared to the adjustments in my hip and lower back I usually get. I came to see Dr Becker with tremendous lower back pain, she consulted with me about treatment, at home excersizes and other important things. Dr. William Bouvier did WONDERS for me in just one visit!! I have having severe hip, neck, all over back, shoulder, and leg pain. Sure enough, during our consultation I realized it was hard for me to move my neck but after one adjustment right after I could move my hip and leg without pain, I could look up and down and to the side with my neck pain free! He really too the time to ask the right questions to better understand my situation, gave excellent advice on my best interest with how many sessions we’d need and what would work with my budget, and how I can take care of myself in between session. Receptionist was very nice, welcoming, patient, quick, and informative. I ended up purchasing a membership due to the overall experience! I have been to this location twice now as we have family in the area. The first time I had Dr Lance. He was very helpful and gave me some tips to make my adjustments last longer. The second time I went I had Dr Munroe and she was very helpful on my tough spots especially my lower back. She did a thorough adjustment and gave me some tips on how to stretch my issue spots. Dr. Idris is by far the best chiropractor I’ve ever had! I’ve probably been to at least 7 in my lifetime. I play basketball, dance, and I’m always on the go. I had a fall over a decade ago that left me worried I would never be able to work out again. After a month of difficulty walking, having to call in to work because of low back pain and sciatica, I was referred to a chiropractor by a neighbor. After that experience I knew that chiropractic would always be my first line of defense for any orthopedic issues that could arise for me in the future. I was too anxious about getting back hard-core in the gym due to random flare up’s of residual pain, so I stopped working out and gradually gained too much weight. So fast forward, to 2021, I decided to start working out again. I had a lot of tightness in my back but it was manageable. By October, I was so miserable after a flare up of the previous injury but had no idea where to find a good chiropractor, because face it, we have all heard horror stories right. At this point, I couldn’t afford to become stagnant again because working out had pulled me into a rejuvenated state of mind. I didn’t want to go back to the stagnant me ever again. Well, some great power was hearing my struggles because I walked into my nearest joint and met Dr. Idris. He is so kind, funny, and just all around easy to work with. He is a well oiled, tried and true machine when it comes to his craft. Well, I messed up my back again recently and Dr. Idris has become a lifeline. Even though this has been the toughest flare up recovery yet but he has taught me so much in the past month. Every time I go in to see him, I come out feeling like I was just reset and feel brand new and limber again. It’s so refreshing to have a health care provider be just as invested in your results as you are. Thank you so much Dr. Idris! You are definitely a bright star in the chiropractic world! ?

I scheduled an appt at the Murphy location, and received the paperwork to bring back that to that appt. Arrived at my appt on time, and was told by the receptionist that two walk-ins (1 before me and 1 after me) would be seen first because my paperwork wasn’t t complete!!!! What!?! Mind you, both of those customers were filling out their paperwork on the spot!!!!! As a result, I would have to wait an hour after my scheduled appt???? This receptionist made a completely arbitrary, non-sense and unprofessional decision. Needless to say, I won’t be going back, and I suggest potential customers do not either!!!!

Dr. Greenlee is the best! He adjusts me and my husband pretty regularly. We each have differentareas that need adjustingand he personalizes it based on that. It's not a one size fits all. The ladies at the front desk are really nice and knowledgeable. It's affordable and you can pay with your HSA.

Terrible experience with paper work make sure you guys read through it all. I only went for one month and was charged for that which is normal. I recently checked and turns out they have been charging me $79 EVERY SINGLE month even though I haven’t gone their in months. After I told them they said that they can only give me 2 months of refund back and 6 visits to the chiropractor. I was asking for a full refund for every month that was charged. They gave me the number to the corporate office located in Arizona so I called them. They have never picked up a call or given a call back. It goes straight to voicemail and at times the voicemail also gets full. So make sure you guys READ the paperwork and cancel your monthly plan if you decide to stop or else they will continue to charge money.

Very disappointed. The professionalism and customer sevice at the Murphy location is horrible. The receptionist greeted my son and I by asking if we had “medicare”…… we have insurance. Megan Nye seemed very rushed and overwhelmed. I listed a knee injury my son had on the paperwork as it asked us to do. However, we were there for a spine adjustment. Megan was so focused on what she couldn’t do for us (the knee injury) that she failed to treat what she could do for us (the spine adjustment). I explained to her several times that we weren’t there for the knee injury, simply for a spine adjustment and alignment. Megan didn’t seem interested or concerned about why we were there. This was our first time at The Joint. This was going to be my son’s first adjustment. She was not at all welcoming, inviting, nor educating. This was by far the worst service that I’ve ever experienced. We did not feel welcomed at all. We left without her performing any service.

Do not trust the person who answers the phone. I was told by the staff to come in the last day of the month to cancel for the following month so I wouldn’t get charge. What do you know, went in to cancel and got charged the very same day! Reason is because they go by the billing date. So whoever I spoke with the first time lied or just simply incompetent. And of course, nothing they can do, no refund, but they are sorry.

I got a membership that I was told it would charge automatically to my credit card each month. And that I could cancel from the 2nd day. So I went to cancel it on the 2nd day. And I was told that they will call me before charging me. But they didn't and charge for 2 months. After talking to them only got 1 charge back. I have even left my contact info for the manager/owner but I was never reached.

Holy back pain Batman, did I ever have some back issues and they did an amazing job with knowing exactly what to do. ON Aug. 2, 2019 I injured my lower back. I have been worried I would do something to my back one day. Due to the line of work I am in. The next following day I went to go see Dr. Dunagan and she put me on a 3 week plan to work on my injury. Before I just start spending money on doctors and MRI. In the first week I had a lot improvement. After the second week I knew I had made the right decision by going and listening to Dr. Dunagan. She got me back where I can take are of m family and enjoy my life everyday. I will continue to see her for now on. I thank her and her front staff for everything they have done for me.

The Joint Chiropractic provides the benefit of both low cost and consistent care. The reason that I joined the service initially was because of the low cost. Additionally, when I come in mid-week, Jenifer has always been friendly, remembering me and signing me in. Dr Dunagan has also been there, getting me in quickly, consistently providing the treatment for my back that I have been needing for some time.

Great experience and great folks at this location. Dr. Dunagan is very kind and knowledgeable and is able to also provide additional information and help, definitely knows what she is doing and always has a smile on her face. I want to call out Jessica @ the front desk for being super kind and friendly and patiently answering our questions, also being flexible with us (father and daughter) as we change and re-adjust our membership. My daughter tried their service for a month and she said it wasn’t all that and the chiro at this location was not up to par. Then before the next billing started my daughter went in and cancelled the $79 membership and signed a form for account to be frozen. But it’s been 2 months now and they are continuing to post $79 charge on my card. Their practice method is not legal.

This is my first negative review ever and I am writing it because the customer service at this location was so bad that I had to walk away and leave before getting treated. My lower back is in a lot of pain and I would rather deal with it than be treated at this facility. The receptionist working at 2:30pm on 9/7/19 probably still does not know what I look like because she never looked me in the eye and she kept cutting me off with each of my questions regarding membership. I understand that you have probably heard the same questions over and over again but it’s also your job to answer those questions and you are not doing it for free. I walked away seriously feeling unhappy due the disrespect. If you want personalized/friendly care, this is NOT the place for you.

HORRIBLE!!! I would put 0 stars if I could! The receptionist was very very rude. There is a recurrence of payments( $80 a month ) when they didn’t even tell me about it. I called and the receptionist was incredibly rude. When I go in they don’t even tell me what is wrong with my back. I will be taking my business somewhere else. Please don’t waste your precious time and money.

So i was astounded when i saw that any "The Joint: The Chiropractic Place" had a 1 star rating! when i looked more closely i noticed that it was because they only had the one review from one PT was mad about the questions they were asked, and were offended because she didn't know anything about what she was offended about. Let me preface this by saying that i used to work for The Joint about 3-4 years ago in Denver, Co. So I know that the Front Desk People are trained to ask brand new patients 3 questions, mainly to save them from having to fill out the paperwork if they are not in the right place. All joint offices DO NOT TAKE ANY INSURANCE. So we would ask if they have been in a car accident recently, if they have been in a workers comp. accident recently and if they are eligible for MEDICARE... (NOT medicaid which is what the lady in the last review thought they meant... BUT THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE!) So lets clear this up: Medicare is for the elderly, there are some specific ways that those under the age of 65 can be eligible. but 99% of the time if you are under 65 years of age you are not eligible. now it looks like she thought that they asked about medicaid, which is the government supplemented insurance that is given to those in need or those who don't make a lot of money. So it looks like she got all offended that they were asking this thinking that it was because she was black... but it has nothing to do with that she was just doing what she was trained to do! I cannot comment on the Specific front desk worker that was there the day the last reviewer (Leslie Gray) was there but i did go ahead and pop in to get an adjustment and i signed up for the $79/month for a set of 4 visits, because lets all remember that one adjustment will not fix anything!!! Dr. Dunnagan the lead doctor in the office was AMAZING!!!! and the front desk worker was extremely kind and helpful. i would with out a doubt ignore the only other review on here and by all means go into this office and get the help that you need... on a weekly basis!!! Thanks so much The Joint in Murphy!!! GREAT FIRST IMPRESSION!!!! (REALLY!!! honestly!)

Very rude receptionist! I received an introductory offer from the Joint Chiropractic I decide to try the practice in Murphy to only be treated with utter disrespect. The receptionist was extremely rude and the questions were of a private matter, but were blurted out while customers waiting could hear. One question in particular was offensive to me and that was if I was on medicare, I guess since I am African American I could not possibly have health insurance. For reference, the question your receptionist should ask (like any other doctor's office) is what is your insurance? I will take the time to spread the word about this particular site for chiropractic appointment. GREAT FIRST IMPRESSION (not)!!!
