Sleep Your Way To Success

By Tom Herrin

There are plenty of ways to try to get ahead in life.  Hard work, studying, and treating others well all pay off when it comes to success.  Everyone has their own formula, but one thing they often have in common is that they identify their goals and work toward them diligently.  They make it a point to do something every day to bring them closer to that ultimate goal.  Some of the things that can help to achieve success are greatly overlooked.  It tends to be that way when we look for the difficult things and fail to see the obvious.  Sleep is something that can play a tremendous role in the success of any individual.  It is something that everyone does, but some fail to comprehend the importance.

The Connection With Kids

School age children usually require nine to ten hours of sleep each night.  When they get that, they are often able to function at a much higher level.  It can help them to focus their attention.  This is one of the popular traits that receive much diagnoses these days.  Having worked in schools for a lot of years, it seems to me that this is the first thing that most people try to identify when students have problems.  Better sleep may solve this for some kids.  Sleep also helps them to be more creative and improves memory.  When a child is groggy, it is difficult for them  learn.  Several other mental functions, such as math, may be improved as well.  Athletic performance is always higher when kids are not sleep deprived.

Adults May See Improvement In Their Lives

Those who get proper sleep can expect to have fewer accidents.  This could mean a more effective worker and a better chance of advancing in a career.  Sleep can mean an improvement in the ability to maintain a healthy weight.  It may also reduce stress and depression.  Both of these can mean greater success in whatever people do.

Little Things May Make The Difference

If you are looking for ways to improve your sleep, you may not have to look far.  Try things one at a time and see the results.  Caffeine can ruin sleep.  If you take in much, try cutting back.  Naps during the day can cause you to be unable to sleep at night.  Try to avoid eating too late or too much.  Give yourself enough time to exercise well before you are ready to go to bed.  Check your lighting and sound.  Try to establish a more set schedule.  Plan for success.  Plan for better sleep.
