Chiropractic Suggestions for Wardrobe Upgrades

By Brandi Goodman

You may not always realize it, but the clothes you wear can greatly impact your well-being. Depending on the activity you're doing, certain outfits are better suited to the situation. Some chiropractic suggestions for wardrobe upgrades can help you determine what you should be wearing regularly and what needs to be avoided.

For Chiropractic Visits

For chiropractic visits in particular, you want to be comfortable. You should be able to move easily when the chiropractor needs to perform your adjustment. Don't wear jeans and a tight shirt that makes it hard to turn over quickly. A suit wouldn't be ideal either. You also don't want bulky items that will block your chiropractor from being able to manipulate your body fully. A thick sweatshirt shouldn't be worn. Activewear is ideal for working out and for a trip to the chiropractor.

Everyday Footwear

High heels are never recommended. You want everyday footwear that can be worn with any outfit. A good pair of tennis shoes, perhaps black, can match nearly anything and will keep your lower body safe. You want to wear shoes each day that absorb the shock of the hard ground you walk on and keep your feet, legs, and back from aching. A pair of flats may suffice in certain situations, such as when you're required at work or need to pair something with a dress. Many flip-flops and sandals should be avoided because they don't offer the support necessary.

Loose, Yet Fitting Clothing

Loose clothing is ideal to wear because it won't have you feeling cut off or restricted. Clothing that is too tight won't allow you to bend and move as you need to exercise or stretch throughout the day. Don't mistake this for wearing loose and flowing clothes, though. Things of this nature can get caught in machinery, are likely to catch on doorknobs, and can cause mishaps. Your clothes should always be loose enough to be comfortable yet still fitting so they don't hang too much.

Sleepwear

The pajamas you choose to sleep in are also important. You want to be comfortable, but you don't want to toss and turn and get caught up in a long nightgown. A regular-fitting T-shirt and pants or shorts may be more ideal. You also don't want to wear something that's too warm and will have you waking up in a sweat. Fleece clothing may not be necessary unless it's the middle of winter and extremely cold.

The right clothes can go a long way toward making your activities go more smoothly. You wouldn't want to go jogging in a business suit, for example, so don't make the mistake of trying. Some chiropractic suggestions may be in order for wardrobe upgrades if you're one who struggles with wearing the right thing for the situation.
