Morning Stiffness Stopped With Chiropractic
By Brandi Goodman
You may find yourself regularly waking up feeling stiff and sore. Despite the regularity of this occurrence and so many people experiencing it, it isn't actually the norm. You should be waking up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day. Stop the morning stiffness with some tips from a chiropractor.
Keep Your Spine Supported
An aging pillow or mattress could be the culprit of your pain. You need to keep your spine supported while you sleep. Using a weakened mattress with a sunken spot that's several years old won't suffice. A flat pillow won't work, either. You need a high quality pillow and mattress that will support your body and keep your spine aligned. You should be changing your mattress every eight years at the very least and your pillow every two.
Exercise Daily
Your exercise habits could also be a reason for concern. Fail to exercise and your body may already be feeling stiff before you head to bed. It's inevitable that you'd wake up the same way. Get more exercise and strengthen your joints. Don't wait until bedtime to do it, though. This could keep you up as you're feeling too hot and energized to fall asleep. Try a morning or afternoon routine for the best results.
Stretch in Bed
Immediately jumping out of bed could have you unsteady on your feet. Sometimes, you need to stretch while you're still laying or sitting up in your bed before you ever attempt to get out of it. This could help loosen things up a bit before you try to stand and end up falling or feeling a serious pain in your leg or back.
Get Routine Chiropractic
A few changes to your sleeping habits may help significantly. They won't always work though. A joint restriction could be the reason for your soreness. Getting it corrected could help you experience better sleep. Your chiropractor may also have specific advice for you based on the information you provide. If you tell him you're a stomach sleeper, for example, you may be advised to switch to a different position instead for improved rest.
It can be difficult to get much accomplished if you're waking up with aches and pains. Keep these chiropractic tips in mind so you can sleep easier and wake up refreshed and motivated to handle anything that comes your way. A better night's rest and capable body makes it easier to make healthy choices.
