Stop Making These 5 Chiropractic Mistakes!
By Brandi Goodman
Whether it's your first time going or you've been plenty of times already, many people make mistakes when it comes to receiving chiropractic care. It's best to prepare before your visit so you know exactly what you need to do -- and what you ought not to do. Stop making these five common chiropractic mistakes so you can make the most of the care you're receiving.
Being Dishonest With Your Chiropractor
Too many people aren't as honest as they should be with their chiropractor. Don't be embarrassed or feel as though you can't disclose the full truth. Your chiropractor needs to know that you've been laying on the couch for weeks bingeing your favorite shows. If he does, he can offer a suitable treatment and advice for correcting your posture and eliminating your pain. Without the proper information, the treatment plan and offered guidance wouldn't suffice.
Wearing Heavy or Stiff Clothing
Perhaps it's a chilly day so you decided to wear a heavy sweatshirt. Maybe you just came from work and have on a business suit or even jeans. These clothing items are too heavy and stiff. They won't allow you to move freely and receive the adjustment your body needs. Do your best to come prepared with clothing that you can move easily in. Think workout wear and athletic options.
Not Drinking Water
Your joints aren't going to be very flexible or easily manipulated if they aren't hydrated. You should try to drink some water both before and after your appointment to help your body adjust. You need to be fluid and pliable so you can receive the best service.
Arriving Right at Your Appointment Time (or Later)
Whether you have an appointment time or you just plan on showing up for a walk-in visit, it's best to give yourself an early arrival. You won't just walk in and get an adjustment immediately. There's always paperwork to complete or questions to respond to. Arrive early so you can handle this first before receiving your adjustment.
Not Asking Questions
Many people have questions for their chiropractor, yet leave without asking them. Don't be shy. Ask away. Your doctor wants you to ask questions and receive the best advice possible based on your situation. If you want to know some foods to eat that will help your joints, ask. If you're aching for an exercise plan that won't be harsh on your knees, ask! You won't know unless you request the answers.
Stop making these chiropractic mistakes. You should always be honest with your doctor of chiropractic and offer the correct information. Drink plenty of water. Wear clothing you can move in easily. Arrive early so you can handle any paperwork and questions, and make sure you're asking your own if you have them. You want the best treatment possible, and you can receive that -- with these tips in mind -- from The Joint Chiropractic.
