Fight Back Against Stress!

By Sara Butler

Stress impacts everyone. What sets some people apart from others is their ability to deal with stress in a healthy way. If you've been struggling with juggling the stress in your life, then you need to develop healthy habits that can help. Here are some tips to help you get started.

Slow Down a Bit

Many times, we're guilty of creating more stress for ourselves. Pushing off things you need to get done until the last minute or rushing to get things done is something you don't have to put yourself through. If you can take the time to plan ahead for what you need to get done, then you can get all those important things accomplished without feeling rushed.

Sleep More

If you want to be able to effectively deal with the stress in your life, then you have to set yourself up for success. One way to do that is to make sure you're getting enough sleep each night. Aim for eight hours of sleep per night and create some healthy habits to make that happen. Turn off screens at least an hour before bed and create a ritual that can help you relax and be calm before bed that will help you fall asleep faster.

Try Not to Worry

If a few of the things on your very full plate are left unfinished, it's not the end of the world. Give yourself a break and get to them when you're less stressed. If you need help breaking out of your worrying funk, then have a good laugh. Laughter can help you to feel better, so watch a funny movie or go out with friends who put a smile on your face.

Organize

To-do lists are a very helpful way to help you get organized and to prioritize. Focus on the most important tasks on your list and break larger projects up into smaller tasks that are easier to take on. If you try to take on something too big, it's easy to get overwhelmed and stressed.

Be Active

Do you know what can help you deal more effectively with stress? Exercise! Exercise is a great way to release mental and physical tension. After all, you can't beat up your coworkers who are annoying you, but you can go in and take it out on a punching bag at the gym!

You can avoid stress, but you can avoid letting it the best of you!
