Healthy Date Nights to the Rescue!
By Brandi Goodman
Couple Appreciation Month in April encourages couples everywhere to spend time together and show each other appreciation. With a healthy date night planned, the two of you can get the time away together that you need so your relationship can thrive. Make it a healthy date night for an even more worthwhile occasion.
Take a Romantic Stroll
A walk is a simple, yet effective date night solution. Walking is great for the body. It will burn calories and boost your lower body strength. Take a romantic stroll hand-in-hand at night with the streetlights illuminating your path. It's ideal for any type of weather -- just be sure to dress for it.
Cook Dinner Together
Come up with a healthy dinner idea and spend your evening creating it together. Working together in the kitchen is a great bonding experience. If you want to up the spontaneity, grab a blindfold. One of you can be blindfolded during the cooking adventure while the other tries to instruct them on how to make part of the dish.
Take a Dance Class
Dancing is an excellent form of exercise. Take a dance class together so the two of you can learn some new steps while you spend the night in each other's arms. If you've already got the moves, head out dancing at a nearby club or bar and dance the night away.
Go Horseback Riding
Riding horses is actually more beneficial than you may realize. You burn calories as you mount the horse and use your strength to balance and steer the reins. Your core will get a great workout in the process. A horseback ride together through the wilderness can be an enjoyable date night.
Go Bowling
Bowling is a tried-and-true date night idea. It's relatively low cost and makes for a fun and competitive time. You'll each burn calories as you step up to the lane and swing your arm to release the ball. Some healthy competition can be good for relationships. Maybe make a wager that the winner has to cook dinner the following night.
Healthy date nights can help rescue the rut you and your partner may have fallen into. It's important to spend time together just the two of you without distractions. Show your partner appreciation and spend time during date night during Couple's Appreciation Month and every month thereafter.
