Flying a Kite Can Be Fun and Painful

By Tom Herrin

It seems like once the weather improved each year, my kids hit me up about flying a kite.  It is a lot of fun and something that really is enjoyable to share with others. These days, it is my grandkids who ask the same question.  The freedom and solitude of seeing that kite soaring through the air has a unique ability to soothe the nerves and relax the body, except for one thing.  Looking up all that time can bring on a pain in the neck. If you find yourself with an unusual activity that causes you neck pain, a trip to a chiropractor can put the pleasure back into life with those kids or grandkids.

Injuries Can Just Happen

So many times, when people do something that is out of the ordinary, they leave themselves open for injury.  In the kite flying instance, spending time looking up for quite a period of time can strain the muscles that support the joints.  This leaves the joint more vulnerable to injury. This is called a joint dysfunction. When this happens, pressure is applied to a nerve causing pain.  Whether it is in the back or neck, it is still quite uncomfortable. The pain can linger and become worse without adequate treatment.

Chiropractors Can Make It Go Away

A visit to a chiropractor can be a pleasant experience.  The chiropractor can perform an adjustment in which they gently manipulate the spine so that the joint is restored to its prime position.  This takes the pressure off of the nerve and relieves the pain. Since this is done without any pain medications, there is no risk of addiction.  This natural treatment tends to promote faster healing. This means a quicker return to normal daily activities, saving valuable time.
