Enjoy the Fall Season With Chiropractic Care
By Donna Stark
If you are thankful that you can finally say goodbye to those hazy, hot, and humid days and anxious to head outdoors for cooler temps, your local chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic have some words of advice. Before you pull out your bike or pack all your camping gear, make sure you prepare your body for your outdoor adventure. Here are some tips they recommend.
Slow Down and Enjoy the Journey
Rushing through your adventure can add unnecessary stress on your body and in your mind, so slow down and be present in the moment. Your local chiropractors suggest that you set aside some extra time to allow for breaks. In addition to giving your body the rest it may need during a long hike or grueling bike ride, these breaks will also give you the opportunity to hydrate, stretch, and enjoy the beautiful scenery around you.
Prepare for the Worst
Heading out on the trails? Detoxing from life in the woods? Whether you are gone for a couple of hours or a couple of days, you need to be prepared for emergencies. Make sure you pack the necessities, such as water, snacks, a medical kit, and anything else deemed appropriate. You can toss all your supplies in a backpack but make sure you invest in a good one! Your chiropractors don't want you to hurt your back from carrying your gear, so they suggest the following.
- Straps - The straps should be wide, adjustable, and padded. There should also be a waist strap so the bag isn't pulling or tugging on your body as you move.
- Material - You want to lighten your load as much as possible, so try to avoid purchasing a backpack made out of heavy material. Something more lightweight and waterproof is ideal.
- Distribution - Place the heavier items in the center at the bottom of the bag and load the lighter items around them. Even distribution of the weight will help reduce the risk of injury.
