3 Tips to a Sound Sleep

When was the last time you had a sound sleep? If you cannot remember, it has been too long. According to research, there are millions who report struggling with sleep issues every year. Sleep experts say that if you are not getting at least six hours of sleep each night, you are not getting enough. Whether your issue is the amount of sleep you get or the quality of sleep you get, it is important to know there are a few things you can do to find some relief. A few tips offered by sleep experts include:

  • Establish a bedtime routine 
  • Exercise in the evening 
  • Cut out the evening caffeine

Establish a Bedtime Routine 

There is truth to the idea that a bedtime routine can help the body relax. Sleep experts say that a routine that lasts no more than 20 minutes can be helpful in teaching your body to wind down. These professionals suggest you include activities that are peaceful including meditation, reading, and stretching, to name a few. Give a bedtime routine a try tonight as you get ready for bed to see how it can impact your sleep for the best. 

Exercise in the Evening

Exercising in the evening can be helpful when trying to get a better night of sleep. It is advised that as little as a 30-minute workout can help the body release tension and energy that can prevent the body from being able to fully rest. Sleep experts say this light workout best benefits your sleep when done in the evening, and at least two hours prior to bedtime. After you get done with dinner tonight, go for a walk, a bike ride, or find another way to get some exercise to help you prepare for a great night of sleep.

Cut Out the Evening Caffeine

Caffeine in the mornings to help get your brain and body going is fairly effective for many. However, in the evening, consuming it too close to bedtime can prove to be a battle with your bedtime. Experts say it is best that you cut out your evening caffeine habit to help the body better relax. It is said that stopping your consumption of caffeine at least four hours prior to bedtime is best. Start tonight avoiding caffeine after dinner to help benefit your sleep.
