Easy Ways to Keep Up the Water Consumption
By Genevieve Cunningham
Drinking enough water is harder than it seems. At first blush, we all think we're drinking enough water. It's not until we notice the effects of dehydration -- dry skin, cracked lips, fatigue, lack of concentration -- that we question our overall consumption. Are we really getting enough water? For most people, the answer is probably not. We have too many other (often, more delicious) options. But drinking enough water is really important! If you need help increasing your water consumption, take a look at these tips to help you find success.
Keep Some in the Refrigerator
If you want to drink more water, make sure it's available. Fill up a pitcher and keep it in the refrigerator. For many people, cold water is the obvious choice. When you open the refrigerator for your normal soda, that cold water will be sitting there -- making you feel guilty and staring you in the face. You're more likely to choose this option if it's always there and waiting.
Carry a Water Bottle
When you're on the go, make sure you have a full water bottle at your side. When you get thirsty, you can take a sip and keep going. This habit might take a while to develop. Your natural instinct might be to swing through a drive-thru for some caffeine. But over time, it will become easier and your health will thank you for your continued efforts.
Measure It Out
Some people make water consumption an obvious goal. If you want to drink eight glasses every day, measure it out. Put it in a pitcher or jug and try to finish the entire amount by the day's end. This makes the goal visible. It puts it in your line of vision and keeps it fresh on your mind. Though it will still take some discipline, it might make it easier to follow through and find success.
Make It Tasty
If your water tastes good, you're more likely to drink it. Obvious, right? Luckily, there are numerous ways to keep your water tasty. The easiest way is to buy packets of powder that you simply mix into your water. They come in various flavors, so there is always something for everyone. A slightly healthier option is to infuse your water with fruit. Choose your favorite, throw it in your water, and let it sit. Your water will get a slight flavor -- and it will also look delicious, which makes a bigger impact than you may realize.
Drinking water is definitely important. Don't ignore it! You need it for clear skin, good digestion, and a healthy and hydrated body. Use these tips to make drinking water a little easier, and you can enjoy the process of water consumption and the better health that comes with it.
