6 Successful Scale-Slamming Suggestions
By Virginia Laird
Scales are not many people’s friend. In the struggle to lose weight, some people do not see the scale move for weeks, but may see small non-scale victories instead. No matter how or where a person may see weight loss or slimming down taking place, there are a few suggestions provided by specialists and healthcare professionals to help a person get started and even stay on track. These suggestions include:
- Write down what you eat
- Make exercise a priority
- Drink more water
- Plan meals ahead
- Stop eating junk
- Turn off the television
Write Down What You Eat
Keeping track what what a person consumes can help provide a big picture as to why a person may be overweight to begin with. Many times a person simply does not realize what all he or she has consumed in a day.
Make Exercise a Priority
It is important when trying to lose weight to make exercise a priority. Although losing weight can be accomplished by diet alone, exercise can help increase a person’s ability to burn unwanted fat, leading to more weight lost.
Drink More Water
Water can help curb the calories a person consumes. Research suggests that at least half of the time a person believes they are hungry, it is the body actually needing more water. Another interesting fact about water is that it works as a filler. Healthcare professionals suggest drinking one glass of water prior to eating a meal can help decrease the amount of food a person will consume.
Plan Meals Ahead
Planning meals ahead of time can help a person select quality foods over quick and low nutrition. It is important to try to plan meals a week ahead of time. This can serve as a way to not only improve health but save some money as well.
Stop Eating Junk
The first thing a person who wants to lose weight should do is stop eating the junk. This can mean fast foods, sugary foods, or anything that may be eaten in a serving far too large to do any good. Another thing that may need to be given up is soda.
Turn Off the Television
Turning off the television can help prevent a person from sitting on the couch all afternoon. Living the couch potato life can be detrimental to weight loss efforts.
