Research indicates that too much exposure to the sun can lead to more serious health issues, including skin cancer. Make sure sunscreen is on your list of must-haves before you go to the zoo.
Consume Plenty of Water
Another sure way to make your trip to the zoo healthy is to consume plenty of water. Although you may find it difficult to do if you are not a lover of water, consuming enough keeps the body hydrated. Staying properly hydrated while out in the sun can prevent heat stroke and other heat related illnesses. It also helps keep the body functioning properly. A great way to make sure you consume plenty of water is to bring a water bottle along with you. Having one available can allow you to fill it up each time you see a water fountain. This can help you stay on top of your hydration game. Experts suggest that you should consume at least half of your body weight in ounces each day. Find a water bottle that is easily carried with you and plan to have it on hand for your trip to the zoo.
Bring Your Lunch
When heading to the zoo, or any other entertainment facility, it may be wise to bring your lunch in order to make sure you are eating healthy. Health and wellness experts admit that most places offer very few choices in the way of healthy foods. For those who prefer to maintain a well-balanced and healthy diet it is always wise to pack a lunch. Plan the night before to pack you and your family a healthy lunch so that you can keep your healthy eating habits intact as you enjoy your day away from home.
