How to Add Fitness to Your Self-Care Routine

By Brandi Goodman

Self-care should be practiced daily. People everywhere need to find time for themselves if they want to unwind from the day and de-stress from all the things causing them tension. Fitness should be part of this self-care routine. It improves health while also releasing endorphins and being overall good for the mental state. Learning how to add fitness to your self-care routine is the first step.

Reevaluate Your Fitness Approach

Say you usually perform hardcore workouts designed to get your body working hard. This may work well on most days, but it isn't best each time. You should reevaluate your fitness approach daily based on how you're feeling. If you're feeling unwell or your mind is clouded, a gentler approach may be best. Alternate with yoga or a simple walk around the block instead of something so intense. It will make you more likely to want to continue to exercise even when you're feeling off.

Find Any Time You Can

Many people say they're too busy to exercise. The only self-care they practice is the breaks they take for a few minutes here and there. Any time you can find is good enough to get in a small workout. Take the stairs at work or at the store instead of riding the elevator. Do a few stretches as you get out of bed. Go for a 10-minute walk on your lunch break. Finding even a few minutes throughout the day to exercise can have significant benefits for your overall well-being.

Incorporate What Makes You Happy

Performing a routine simply because you know you should is not enough to make it worthwhile. Incorporating what makes you happy can provide major motivation to keep you going and have you wanting to do the activity more and more. Dancing to your favorite music is a great way to get a workout in without feeling like you're doing a boring routine. If you enjoy spending time with family and want them involved, go for a walk together or plan a weekly trip to an activity center.

See a Chiropractor

Chiropractic care can improve your fitness level. An adjustment that eliminates subluxations, also known as joint restrictions, can ease pain, ensure your bodily systems are working efficiently, and improve flexibility. These things combined make working out easier to manage. You should be better able to get your exercise time in after you've had an adjustment.

Do your best to add fitness to your self-care routine daily. Take whatever time you can get and be sure to choose a workout that fits your needs and mood. Visit The Joint Chiropractic to have an adjustment and ensure your body is in adequate shape for the workout plan you have in mind.
