Don't Wait! Declutter Your Home Now!
By Brandi Goodman
Clearing clutter doesn't have to wait until spring cleaning season. It's important to start the process now so you no longer have to live with the ever-growing feeling of chaos that clutter often creates. Don't wait. Declutter your home now and gain the many benefits doing so brings.
Lessen Your Stress
It is easy to feel stressed when you are surrounded by stuff. Piles of boxes lining your hallways, junk filling your closets, and unnecessary items swallowing up the space in your home can all make you feel completely overwhelmed. Your home should be a place you feel at peace and can get away from the other stresses of life, such as work. Lessen your stress by taking some time to clear the clutter and improving your living space.
Start a Healthier Habit
Clutter can lead us to choose unhealthy habits. Take your cupboards for instance. Perhaps they're chock-full of Christmas treats and holiday snacks you were gifted or even purchased yourself. Having these things so readily available to you will undoubtedly ensure you're choosing foods you shouldn't. Clear out your cupboards of any old Halloween candy or holiday treats that will only tempt you. This allows you to start a healthier habit of regularly clearing out the things you don't need to eat and replacing them with more nutritious options.
Get Better Sleep
You may find it difficult to drift off to sleep each night if the last thing you see before you close your eyes is clutter. Declutter your bedroom first so you can be sure to get better rest. You don't want to be surrounded by piles of laundry, empty boxes, or worse. Get rid of it so you have a clean and clear room that offers a more peaceful ambiance that encourages relaxation.
Clutter tends to collect dust the longer you leave it. Breathing in dust and toxins can wreak havoc on your respiratory system. You may experience symptoms of fatigue, headaches, runny noses, watery eyes, and worse. Start by clearing the clutter and then follow it with a full dusting of your home. You may even want to get your air ducts cleaned so there is no dust, dander, or pollutants clogging your lungs. You'll breathe easier.
Get rid of the things you no longer need, never cared for, or that have gone unused for some time. All of this clutter can make your life feel chaotic and fill your mind with feelings of frustration, hopelessness, and worry. Eradicating it from your house now will ease your troubles and help your home feel like your sanctuary again.
