Don't Overlook These High-Protein Foods

Protein. It's a nutritional building block your body needs. When it's time to choose a protein for your diet, you probably gravitate toward meat, but did you know that meat isn't the only good source of protein out there? There are plenty of versatile, easy, and quick high-protein foods that will make an excellent addition to your diet. Here are a few you should try.
Lentils
Lentils are available in all types of preparations, from canned to frozen to ready-to-eat. One cup of lentils has about 18 grams of protein. They also have 60 percent of your daily fiber intake and a load of minerals and vitamins your body needs to be healthy. So go ahead, find some recipes that have lentils as the star and experiment -- they're really good for your health.
Hard Boiled Eggs
Hard boiled eggs are very easy to make, but you can find them for sale pre-cooked now, too. One whole egg will provide you with about 6 grams of protein. If you're worried about the cholesterol found in eggs, you shouldn't be. Research has found that the type of cholesterol found in whole eggs doesn't impact your blood cholesterol levels.
Eggs remain the practically perfect food. They're low in calories but high in vitamins and minerals as well as healthy fats and antioxidants. Don't shy away from eggs as a good source of protein in your diet.
Beans
Beans are easy to find and easy to prepare, often just requiring you to warm them up before eating them or opening a can to add them to your favorite recipe. Beans are packed with about 12 grams of protein as well as fiber in just one cup. They're inexpensive, too, so find ways to add beans to your favorite recipes for a nutritional boost.
Greek Yogurt
Greek yogurt is a great way to get some protein in your diet easily, especially if you choose Greek yogurt made from grass-fed dairy cows. It can vary, but in general Greek yogurt has about 12 grams of protein per serving. Plus, plain Greek yogurt is a great thing to use in both sweet and savory dishes as a source of protein.
There are all kinds of sources of protein out there for you to discover. Don't shy away from branching out and trying new things. You may find something that you wondered how you ever lived without.
