Take Advantage of Restrictions

By Tom Herrin

Sometimes what people are not allowed to do can be big.  Under today's conditions in the world, many people find themselves unable to live life as they are accustomed.  Finding oneself in a situation in which they cannot move freely about is more than a little inconvenience.  This is the time to make up their mind to make the most of whatever the circumstances.  Everyone knows that the current circumstances are pretty unusual and difficult.  Making the most out of it, however, may help people to grow in such a time.  With more time together as families, it is a great time to move forward and grow even as things are beginning to open up.

Create More Time for Play

Many people spend too much time doing anything but interacting with family members.  Whether it is playing organized board games, guessing games, or doing some kind of craft, there is a lot to be gained by interaction.  Too often, people are in a hurry and put off these kinds of activities as something they deem should happen at a later time.  In the present times, many are spending far more time together, and it may remain that way as things open up.

Remember to Have Physical Activities

Exercise is critical to good health.  Many people avoid getting on a schedule that requires a time commitment for exercise.  Starting slowly can be the best way.  Since they are a little more restricted in what they do now, there is no time like the present to begin a program.  If they are among a group of people from the same household, organizing a group exercise program may be a great way to try to form a habit.  Allowing a little more leeway for the activities may be a way to spice it up.

Have Fun

If we have to be together more, let us have a good time.  When we enjoy ourselves, we may learn to appreciate one another more.  In our home, we try to spend time together by having a minimum of one meal together each day.  As we do, we are able to have better casual conversation.  I find that as I do this, I am able to be a better listener and improve my relationship with others.  If you don't already do this, now may be a good time to try.
