Will You Do What It Takes to Have Healthy Skin?

By Tom Herrin

All of us are faced with occasional challenges.  Our health can be one that becomes a major issue in a matter of a short period of time.  Neglect may be the greatest factor that has a serious impact.  Most of us have learned about the risk of failing to get enough exercise.  We also are aware of eating habits that may result in a deterioration of our overall health.  There are times in which we may reach a point from which a return to good health is a great challenge.  Maintaining healthy skin is possible, but if we are not careful, we may damage our skin by neglect just like any other part of our body.  Fixing the problem after the fact can be pretty difficult.  We will do well to address skin care now.

Use Sunscreen

With some of the modern advances we have made in preserving good health, we are now able to provide much more protection from the sun.  Rather than simply burn, we may take some preventative measures that can offer pretty significant protection.  It is generally suggested that we use sunscreen anytime we spend more than a few minutes in the sun.  I have burned on the side of my face by a car window on more than one occasion.  Using a sunscreen that is mineral-based with SPF of 30 seems to be the standard.

Exfoliate

Using something to scrub the skin and remove dry or damaged skin is thought to be a great way of revealing softer and fresher skin.  It is amazing just how much can be done with short sessions.  I had little thought about it until I tried it once at an advertising booth in a mall.  I was quite surprised at how much difference it made.  Whether you are male or female, exfoliating can be a really good practice in skin care.

Use Skin Care Products at the Right Time

Many of us who use skin care products may be doing so at the wrong time.  It has been said that, in order to get the most out of them, we should use them right after we get out of the shower or bath.  The idea is that we may be able to retain more of the moisture we take in during our bath if we use skin care products as soon as possible.  This helps us to avoid trying to repair our skin after damage has been done.
