3 Reasons to Skip the Fast Food
By Genevieve Cunningham
Considering we're all living really busy lives, most people are incredibly grateful for fast food. If you don't get a chance to throw on dinner before you leave for work or before the next practice for your kids starts, you can just swing through the drive-thru. It's a blessing, right? Unfortunately, the answer to this question is complicated. Though it's certainly nice to have a quick and easy option, fast food is incredibly bad for us. It's among the most unhealthy food that we eat! If you're still not convinced, take a look at these three good reasons to skip the fast food and make a better plan instead.
Let's Talk Calories
Fast food is high in calories. Unless you luck upon a low calorie option, you can expect to eat between a quarter and a half of your total daily intake -- depending on your body's needs, of course. That's a lot of calories! If you do this very often, then it almost always leads to weight gain. If you're looking to lose or maintain your weight, fast food is definitely not the option for you.
It Becomes a Habit
The good part about fast food is that it's easy. Unfortunately, the bad part about fast food is that it's easy. The ease of fast food makes it incredibly convenient, but it also means that it's more likely to become a habit in your life. When fast food is a habit, it means eating fatty, salty, calorie dense foods on a regular basis. And for obvious reasons, this is not good. If you would rather live a healthy lifestyle, then skipping fast food is your best bet.
It's Bad for Your Skin
You probably don't immediately think about your skin when you're thinking about fast food, but it makes a bigger impact than you think. Most fast food is full of grease, and grease is bad for the skin. It promotes acne and increases the risk of random breakouts. If you like the idea of having clear skin, avoiding fast food is a smart choice.
Sure, we all love to indulge in occasional fast food. We love the flavor, the convenience, and the satisfaction of a hot, crispy french fry. But fast food is almost always unhealthy. Don't get sucked into the convenience trap. Plan ahead, eat a healthy diet, and keep your health on track for years to come.
