Pain-free Tips for Wrapping Graduation Gifts

By Brandi Goodman

Graduation is a time to celebrate. Students are now finished with school and will be heading into the real world. Many families opt for graduation parties for one final celebration before the new adults head off on their own. This means graduation gifts that need to be carefully wrapped. Wrapping can lead to back pain if people aren't careful, so a few tips can help keep the task pain-free.

Use a Standing Desk

Standing up to wrap isn't the common practice, but it is the safest. Instead of sitting down and hunching over to get your wrapping done, you should stand at a desk that allows you to maneuver the paper and make your cuts easier.

Keep All Supplies Together

Make sure to set all your supplies back together in the same location so you don't have to go searching. Reaching for the tape and the scissors over and over again while tackling your wrapping can quickly cause pain. Having all supplies in one place prevents this from happening, and keeps your mind a little more sane as well since you won't be left wondering where in the world that tape went that you JUST used.

Pre-Cut Your Tape

You may find yourself leaning over the gift and holding down the paper with one elbow as you attempt to rip off another piece of tape. Stop the struggle and pre-cut your tape before you start. The most basic gifts will require at least three pieces of tape, though you usually should add a few to ensure everything is held in place. Have six pre-cut pieces of tape available so you can wrap easier and avoid the game of Twister you might otherwise find yourself in.

Use Bags

You don't actually have to accomplish the task of wrapping your gift. There are bags that can be used that make the process of concealing your present much easier. You simply place the item inside and cover with a piece of tissue paper. No straining or struggling to get the perfect corners required.

Use a Gift-Wrapping Service

If you still prefer to have the gift wrapped nicely, then consider a gift-wrapping service. Though some stores only offer them around the holidays, there are others that will wrap a gift for you anytime. Other occasions require gifts after all, such as graduation or birthdays. Purchase your gift at a store that offers this service and have them do the work for you.

Graduation parties, birthdays, holidays, and more require the use of wrapping paper and tape. Use this advice anytime you find yourself needing to wrap a gift, whether it's this summer or after.
