Natural Ways to Find Headache Relief
By Sara Butler
Headaches aren't a new concept for many people. But no matter how many headaches you've had in your life, when one strikes, it doesn't get any easier to handle. There are many reasons why people suffer from headaches. They can be caused by lack of sleep, poor posture, allergies, and more. But if you find yourself with a throbbing noggin and need to find relief as soon as you can, these home remedies may be able to help.
Essential Oils
Let's face it, sometimes you have a headache because you need to take a breather. Maybe that breather should include some essential oils!
Essential oils such as peppermint and lavender may help to get rid of your headache. Peppermint has been found to help improve blood flow and lavender has been found to help mitigate stress and anxiety levels.
Ginger
If your headache is making you feel queasy, then have a little ginger. Ginger root has been found to help reduce inflammation in the body and quell nausea. Steep some root in some hot water and take some sips -- it may help.
Sleep
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say that one-third of adults don't get enough sleep regularly. This can contribute to health issues, including headaches. That's why, with a headache, you may simply benefit from a small nap in a cool dark room.
Cold Compresses
Reduce pain and soothe your aching noggin with a cold compress. Sometimes it really is just as simple as taking a break and performing a little self-care in order to overcome a headache.
Stretch
The chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic see many patients with headaches and the root cause is muscle tension in the shoulders and neck. When you have a headache, try to do some gentle stretches by relaxing your shoulders and rotating your neck. This can help relieve muscle tension and reduce the intensity of the headache.
See the Chiropractor
If headaches are a constant problem for you, then you need to meet with chiropractors from The Joint Chiropractic. They can help discover the underlying cause of your headaches and help you come up with a plan to address them.
You don't have to live with pain in your head on a regular basis. Take charge of your health and try to soothe your headache away. If you have questions, the chiropractors at The Joint are a great resource!
