Health Symptoms Men Should Never Ignore
By Sara Butler
Let's face it, a lot of people don't go to see healthcare professionals when they know they should. Men can be pretty bad about taking health problems seriously. But some symptoms can be signs of serious health problems that shouldn't be ignored. Here's what men need to be on the lookout for when it comes to their health.
If you have problems swallowing, a condition called dysphagia, it's a symptom you should take seriously. It's one of the signs you may have acid reflux, or it can be a sign that you have an allergic condition or even something as serious as cancer of the esophagus. Make sure to have this issue checked out to make sure everything is A-OK. Even if it's simply reflux, there are things you can do to feel better.
Unexpected Weight Loss
If you're overweight and you lose weight through diet and exercise, then good for you. But if you're losing without making any lifestyle or diet changes, then it may be a sign of a serious health problem. You must see the doctor so they can run tests to see why the weight loss is happening and make sure everything is OK.
Sleeping too little, too much, or having problems staying asleep or falling asleep may be signal something isn't right with your health. Sleep disorders are often a sign of issues such as sleep apnea or depression. Sleep apnea can increase your risk of a heart attack or your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Have your sleep problems evaluated by a medical professional. At the very least, you may be able to start getting better rest at night so you can feel rejuvenated in the morning.
If you suffer from chronic itching, then it may be something as simple as dry skin -- or it could be a sign of something worse. Chronic itching can be a sign of serious medical issues such a diabetes, multiple myeloma, and lymphoma. So, make sure to talk to a doctor if you're itchy and it simply won't go away!
If you're noticing bruises popping up everywhere, especially in places you don't normally get them such as your fingers or hands, then make sure to see a doctor. Bruising easily can be a sign of leukemia and is something you shouldn't ignore.
Not many people want to think something serious is going on with their health, but it's important to never ignore signs; see a medical professional if you suspect something is amiss.
