Increasing Your Energy Levels Naturally

By Stephen R. Farris

Looking for ways to increase your energy levels? Sure, they may dip up and down throughout the day. That's normal, but if you are looking to increase your levels it's better to do so naturally rather than looking for supplements, or a quick fix like energy drinks. These items can cause you to crash hard and leave you drained unless you keep taking or drinking them.

So why not do it the natural way? Here's a few tips to get you started.

More Sleep

It may seem a little nerdy, but it's true. Getting more sleep, or at least the required amount of sleep your body needs -- at least seven hours -- can actually make you feel more energized in the mornings. That's definitely a good thing since you have to go to work, or if you work out on a regular basis.

Kick the Stress

This can be hard to do sometimes, and it's normal to have a little stress in your life. It can't always be helped. However, there are times we either put undue stress on ourselves, or even get into stressful situations that we shouldn't be into. If you find yourself stressed more than usual, reverse it by -- for instance -- talking with a friend; use it as an opportunity to vent to them about what is bothering you if it's that type of stress. Physical stress can be relieved through exercise, or by simply relaxing, meditating, or spending time in nature. Take a walk or run; do whatever helps you de-stress yourself.

Move Your Body More

It can be very easy after work to get home, plop down on the couch and binge watch movies until bedtime. This is not good if you sit all day at your job, or you're not practicing good posture. If you find yourself doing these things -- sitting, standing, bingeing, etc. -- try getting up and moving every so often. Usually every 20 to 30 minutes is good, or at least every hour. So between episodes of your favorite show, go do something that requires movement other than picking up the remote and pressing a button.

There are other things you might want to cut down on or eliminate completely in order to gain more energy, such as using tobacco products, limiting alcohol consumption, and eating a healthier, more nutritious diet to name a few.
