How to Easily Stick With Your Clean Eating Plan Over the Weekend

Sticking with clean eating on the weekends can be a hard task. You have been good all week, sticking to whole foods and being strict when it comes to sugar and processed foods. However, once the weekend comes, something in your brain says it is okay for a junk food free for all. Binging on the weekends is common, and it can also hinder your health goals. Here are a few ways to keep your clean eating regimen on the weekends too.

Start with the Right Sip

The weekends mean that you are off your normal schedule, which means you may not be as diligent about water consumption. Getting overly thirsty is a sure way to cravings and food temptations. Start your weekend off on the right foot by drinking a warm cup of lemon water first thing in the morning. Then, fill up your largest cup with water and set a timer to remind yourself to drink it.

Keep Cooking at Home

Weekends are the time when friends and family want to get together and go out to eat. Even though many restaurants offer healthy choices, going out to eat is still a huge temptation for overeating, eating poor food choices, and over drinking alcohol beverages. Instead, try to meet up with friends or family at your house for a simple and healthy meal. Marinate and grill chicken, steak, and vegetables for an easy and inexpensive way to stay true to your clean eating lifestyle.

Keep Your Meals Scheduled

If you have success eating clean on the weekdays, it is probably because you are in a set schedule. You don’t have time for mindless snacking because you are busy with work, and you eat during your designated lunch hour. Enjoy your weekend, but keep the meal schedule similar to avoid overeating high sugar foods and processed foods. Keep yourself busy with activities so that boredom does not trigger an eating response.

Sip Herbal Tea

When you sit down to catch up on your favorite shows, avoid bringing a snack with you. Instead, sip on hot herbal tea. It will give your mouth something to do and will help ease any late night cravings. If you must satisfy the need to crunch and munch, try carrot sticks.
