Kick Your Sugar Habit Once and For All

Too much sugar in your diet can lead to weight gain, poor skin quality, and a myriad of other health problems. The problem with sugar is that the more you eat, the more you crave. Breaking your sugar habit is a hard one to beat, but it is essential for better health and weight loss.

Remove the Sweet Temptation

Having sweets packed into your pantry will make it harder to cutting back your sugar intake. Remove all of the sweets from your pantry and allow yourself to have one sweet treat once per week. It is easier to turn down buying cookies at the store or trying a friend’s dessert when you know you have your favorite dessert waiting for you at the end of the week without guilt.

Check Your Labels

It is hard to get rid of your sweet tooth when you are consuming every day and even “health” products that contain hidden sugars in them. Granola bars and meal bars are loaded with sugar. They aren’t the only products either. Salad dressings, pasta sauces, and most packaged foods will have hidden sugars in them. This is why it is essential to check the food labels and choose products with zero to very little sugar.

Put Your Head in the Right Spot

If you think that quitting sugar is going to be hard, then it is going to be hard. Instead, you need to have positive attitude and believe in yourself. If you try to kick your sugar demon or lose weight with a negative attitude, then you will most likely not reach your goal. Speak positive words to yourself each day to succeed.

Avoid Being Hungry

When you have too much time in between your meals, your blood sugar is quick to drop and you will become overly hungry. Being overly hungry makes it harder to make healthy eating decision. Try eating small meals 4-5 times a day, incorporating vegetables and healthy proteins in each meal.

Don’t Dwell on Failure

When you do slip up and give in to your sugar cravings, don’t beat yourself up. Instead, stay positive and avoid dwelling on your failures. Jump back into healthy eating and help detox your body naturally after a binge by drinking more water and eating more greens.

The sugar craving is a hard one to kick, but it can make a huge difference in your health. Don’t try to kick your sugar habit in one day, but instead embrace small, healthy habits to help you defeat your sweet tooth.
