The Chiropractic Advice You Need for Your Feet
By Brandi Goodman
Chiropractic guidance often focuses on the back and neck. Your feet need attention, too. Keep some chiropractic advice in mind for your feet so you can keep your ankles, toes, and heels feeling great.
You Need to Stretch Your Feet More!
It's no secret that your body needs regular stretching to avoid stiffness. Despite this fact, many people fail to stretch out their feet in the process. It's a no-brainer to stretch your back when it's sore or lift your legs when they're locked. Your feet often get forgotten, though. You should be stretching your feet out well to prevent pain from setting in.
Roll your ankles clockwise a few times and then counterclockwise. Point your toes towards the ground, and then towards the ceiling. Wiggle your toes. Move them like wiper blades, going to the right and then back to the left. There are so many great ways to stretch your feet.
Keep Your Toenails Clipped
Your toenails should never be left to grow long and curved. Having a toenail hang over the edge can cause discomfort as it digs into the toe next to it. This may cause you to walk funny as you attempt to avoid the digging. You should always keep your toenails clipped and well taken care of so the pain doesn't have a chance to set in and make you walk unevenly.
Don't Wear the Same Pair of Shoes Daily
Wearing the same pair of shoes every day is only going to wear them out quickly. You should be switching your shoes often, choosing a different pair to wear each day. Shoes worn regularly should be thrown out each year. Ones worn daily will need replacing within a few months so you aren't letting your feet suffer in a worn-down pair that doesn't offer the necessary support you need.
Invest in Inserts
Just because a shoe comes one way doesn't mean you have to keep it the same. You can invest in additional inserts, gel cushions, and other options that will add the extra support you may need. If you know your arches are high, for example, you may need some extra padding to keep your feet comfortable.
Your foot health is just as important as the well-being of the rest of your body. Keep this chiropractic advice in mind as you work to care for your feet and keep them comfortable.
