The Good About Golfing

By Brandi Goodman

Golf is good for many reasons. The sport has been used for centuries as a way to blow off some steam, relieve stress, and enjoy some friendly competition. It's also ideal for leg strength and exercise. Use the good of golfing to your mental and physical advantage and add it to your hobbies list.

It Counts as Exercise!

Golfing counts as exercise like most physical activities. You'll be burning calories as you walk the course, line up your shot, and take your swing. Your lower body will especially benefit due to all the walking you do. Whether you're playing on a regular golf course or taking your kids to play mini-golf, you'll still have to make your way from one hole to the next. Use a step tracker and see how many you rack up. You may just reach your daily goal quickly. Your core and arms also get a workout as you perfect your swing.

It Offers Stress Relief

Exercise releases endorphins that help reduce stress. Do something you enjoy, such as golf, and your mood is improved even more. You'll have plenty of time to relieve your stress and reduce your feeling of overwhelm as you make your way through the golf course. The game is competitive, yet performed at a leisurely rate. It really works to keep your heart rate down and your blood pressure under control.

It Promotes Social Connections

Most people don't play golf alone. Although you can, the game is often performed with others. This gives you the ability to boost social connections and interact with other people. Even if all you say is a "hello" to other golfers on the grounds, you're getting to be around other people and enjoy seeing others enjoying the same game. Go for a round of golf with friends and you'll really get to benefit from all the interaction and camaraderie.

It Increases Life Expectancy

Because golf offers a chance for exercise and stress relief, you'll see an increase in life expectancy when you're a regular player. Golfers have a good chance of improving their bone strength, preventing fractures, and preventing diseases such as diabetes. Get out and golf once per week or so and experience the long-lasting benefits.

There are so many good things about golfing. With all the advantages, there's no reason why you shouldn't add golfing to your list of hobbies. Even a fun round of mini-golf with your kids can bring you these benefits and ensure your well-being is accounted for each time you play.
