3 Little Habits That Are Causing Your Back Pain

By Genevieve Cunningham

If you're new to back pain, welcome to the club that no one wants to be in. Back pain is incredibly common. But for as common as it is, it's equally as frustrating. You don't realize just how much you use the back until pain is present. Until you can't use it anymore. Until using the back is something you try to avoid -- mostly unsuccessfully. Even though experiencing back pain is frustrating, perhaps the most frustrating part is that much of our back pain is self-inflicted. It's because of our habits. Luckily, habits can be changed! If you're sick of dealing with back pain, take a look at these three little habits that may be contributing to the pain and that you should change today.

Excessive TV or Technology Time

Who doesn't love time on technology or in front of the TV? It's a great way to stifle boredom or unwind after a long day. The problem is that we're on these kinds of devices way too much. We're in front of some kind of screen almost all day long. And this often means that tension builds in the spine, thus leading to pain. If you want to reduce this kind of pain, you have to limit your time in front of a screen and spend some time moving instead.

Poor Form

Form is so important. If you're exercising, pay attention o how you lift weights, how you run, how you squat. Just pay attention! Poor form can lead to injury and pain in the long run. But it's not enough to pay attention only when you're working out. You also need good form when you lift heavy items at home, pick up your children, and even when you sit or stand. The better your posture and form, the better you're going to feel and the less pain you'll ultimately suffer.

A Lack of Quality Sleep

Quality sleep can be hard to come by. We're so busy that sleep often gets pushed to the back burner. When we don't get enough sleep, we are far more likely to suffer from aches and pains, tension, and general discomfort. Improve your sleep, and you may be able to avoid future pains and improve current pains in your life.

Don't Forget to See a Chiropractor

Along with improving upon these little habits, back pain can see a big improvement with the help of regular chiropractic care. Chiropractors use a gentle procedure to remove joint restrictions, reduce pain, and restore function to the body as a whole. Make a plan, see the chiropractor regularly, and you will likely see massive improvement in your pain as well as you overall health and well-being.
