4 Chiropractic Tips for a Better Autumn
By Brandi Goodman
There may be some summer season left, but once school is back in session most people begin looking ahead at fall. For many, this means getting the rakes ready, pulling out the fall wardrobe, and preparing for Halloween. All of this can lead to pain if you aren't careful. With some chiropractic tips in mind, you can experience a better autumn that keeps you free from aches and feeling great.
Replace Your Athletic Shoes
You should be wearing athletic shoes daily -- no matter the season. They offer the best support and help keep your feet and legs comfortable. You need to replace them often, though. Whether they're your daily pair or ones you only wear during fall yard work, you need to replace your shoes yearly at the very least. You may want a new pair after six months if you're wearing them every single day. Worn out shoes no longer offer the protection you need.
Decorate With Help
If you plan on decorating for the upcoming Halloween season -- or even just with fall decor -- you need to get help. Don't start climbing on ladders alone with no one there to spot you. You need assistance so at least two people can tackle the job more quickly and you have someone nearby to assist you should something go wrong.
Get a Rake That Fits Your Height
One rake does not fit all in many cases. The same rake cannot be used in the same way between someone who is short and someone who is much taller. Every member of the household who plans on tackling raking duties needs a rake that fits their height. You shouldn't have to bend far forward while you're raking -- nor should you struggle to reach the full height of the rake and catch yourself stumbling. You'll hurt your back quickly if you aren't using a height-appropriate tool.
Exercise While You Watch TV
Television becomes a common fixture in many households in the fall. TV shows tend to return in the fall, prompting you to sit and watch your favorites nightly. You shouldn't sit on the couch for hours slumped in front of the TV, though. You need to maintain an exercise routine, and TV time is the perfect opportunity for it. Use a stair stepper, bike, treadmill, or even just step in place or stretch as you watch your program. It will help keep your body moving and feeling good instead of causing an ache from sitting too long.
The autumn season is a great one for many -- but it can be even better when you take these tips to heart. You want to remain as healthy and well as possible. It is possible when you listen to these chiropractic tips and keep your body in shape -- no pain necessary.
