Finish Your Year Out Strong
By Brandi Goodman
The end of the year is almost here. It's time to finish the year out strong and make sure you're staying as healthy and well as possible. It will give you the incentive you need to settle on some New Year's goals and really stick with them.
Don't Overindulge on Holiday Treats
The biggest holidays of the season end the year. These all seem to center around treats and feasts that pack in unnecessary calories. Make sure you're not overindulging on holiday treats when you see them so you don't have extra weight gain or sluggishness to worry about. Choose healthier snacks and make substitutions so your health stays in order.
Delegate Tasks
Part of the stress that comes with the end of the year is all the holiday tasks and winterizing you need to accomplish. Instead of tackling it all alone, be sure you're delegating tasks that aren't as high up on your to-do list. Get your family to help out. Ask a neighbor for assistance. You could even hire someone if you have the means. Also, find ways to lessen your load. Instead of spending hours shopping in the store for gifts, order online instead. It will save you time.
Stick With an Exercise Routine
Your body needs exercise to thrive. If you're feeling tired lately, don't take that as a sign to rest. Sometimes sitting around can make us feel even more exhausted, but exercise can actually provide a boost in energy. Stick with an exercise routine and get the physical activity your mind and body need to stay well.
Keep Up on Hygiene
The fall and winter seasons are when illness is at an all-time high. You're in close proximity to other people more often, whether you're shopping at the mall or seeing friends and family for holiday events. All of that closeness can make it easy for sickness to spread. Make sure you're washing hands often and use hand sanitizer if you're out and about and can't get to a sink. Any time you touch gas pumps, door handles, and other surfaces that others touch often throughout the day, your hands need a good cleaning.
Do what you can to finish your year out strong. There isn't much of it left, so make the most of every minute you have and keep your body and mind as healthy as can be. It will help you start the new year out on the right foot as well, which is always a plus.
