Adding a Healthy Food to a Menu Is Easy
By Tom Herrin
A lot of times, people make a big deal in their minds about making adjustments to their daily list of foods. It may seem more difficult than it really is. Obviously if they are giving up a major item, it can be tough. For those who are giving up meat all of a sudden, it may be taxing. Making small adjustments is really the best way to improve health. Those subtle changes are the simplest. While everyone knows they need fruit, some still resist adding it. One of the easy ones is to eat pears. They do not have the glamour and history of apples, but they can have a pretty good impact on improving health.
They May Support Digestion
Many people suffer from some sort of digestive problems these days. Some of this may be due to the foods that they eat. Fast foods are not really conducive to better health. A lot of people fail to drink enough water or eat an adequate amount of fiber. Pears have both. They have a high water content and are well supplied with fiber. This combination can help people to feel full longer and move food through the digestive system without problems.
They May Be Good for Those Struggling With Weight Management
Plenty of Americans today are in a constant battle with their weight. It can pose some real challenges. Finding the right foods and training oneself to eat them can require planning. Pears can be an ideal food to eat as a snack or dessert. An average one has only around 100 calories. They are gently sweet and with the water and fiber, they can check hunger. They are also one of the faster healthy foods to eat. There is no peeling required. They are so soft that they may be eaten much faster than something like an apple that requires more chewing.
They Have a Good Taste
For those who haven't eaten pears in a while, they are worth trying again. I like the fact that I can grab one and eat it in no time. It can satisfy that hunger between meals. I also enjoy them right out of a can with maybe a little something on top. When they are made into preserves, they are great with breakfast. If you are shopping for a little change, try a few pears.
