3 Tips to Help You Find Focus
By Genevieve Cunningham
Sometimes focus is the hardest thing to find. Maybe we don't feel like working. Maybe we just have other things on our minds. Maybe we're actually trying to focus, but that concentration just keeps slipping away. Whatever the case may be, finding and keeping focus is a challenge. Of course, we need our concentration in order to be successful and productive. So what can we do? If you need to improve your focus in everyday life, take a look at these tips to help you get moving in the right direction.
Eliminate Distractions
Distractions happen to everyone, but the more distractions we have, the harder it is to focus. So how do we eliminate distractions? Close your tabs. Put your phone in a drawer. Most of the time, we create our own distractions because we don't want to work on what's in front of us. If it's outside stimuli that's causing the distractions, then upgrade your environment. Make sure it's quiet and closed off from things that will take away from the task at hand. This is a hard task, but one that makes a huge difference in your ability to focus.
Drink More Water
If your body is dehydrated, it's automatically harder to pay attention. Our bodies and minds are craving hydration, but we don't see or hear its cues. And so pieces of our health begin to suffer. And focus is one of these areas that suffers most. If you're having a hard time with concentration, try to drink more water every day. Start with water in the morning, and then continue to fill your body all day long. At first, you may not feel the impact. But as your body becomes more (and properly!) hydrated, your focus will continue to improve.
Improve Sleep
You're not going to be able to focus without good sleep. You'll be too tired. Too rundown. Too exhausted. You can't stay up all night and still expect to pay attention at work the next day. Don't set yourself up for failure. Instead, go to bed. Make sleep a priority. By taking this one step toward more focus, you'll be improving your health in more ways than one.
If you really want to focus and stay on task, these tips can help. We need focus. We need to pay attention. And sometimes we need help! Apply these habits into your daily life, and you may find better focus and productivity comes right along with them.
